Happy Kiss Day

5 ways to keep yourself kiss-ready

With the Valentine week almost nearing its climax, the buzz around the festival of love is only bound to heighten here on. But before celebrating the day of love, let's not forget what February 13 has in store for us.

February 13 is celebrated as Kiss Day by lovers everywhere, and even though it seems unfair to only dedicate one day to the beautiful gesture, the existence of a special day for the same demands that a person be prepared for what is clearly a sign of love, passion and affection.

Here are some things you can keep in mind to stay kiss-ready all day today (and other days!).

Avoid foul-smelling food items
Isn't this a given? Well, for some it isn't. In case you have it in you (or even if you don't) to predict whether your meeting with your partner will involve kissing--avoid eating food items that contain huge quantities of onion and garlic. It's also a good idea to skip any meal that involves fish, or even radish.

Keep those lips moist
No one is fond of kissing lips that are chapped or dry--correct? Well, even if your lips do become dry every now and then, keep a lip balm handy and re-apply it from time to time. Even something as basic as Vaseline petroleum jelly can work wonders for your lips.

Avoid smoking and consuming other tobacco-based products
No matter how much you claim to be addicted to a particular form of tobacco product, refrain from its consumption, at least when you're going to see your partner. A mouth that smells of cigarette smoke isn't exactly pleasant, is it?

Maintain oral hygiene
Kiss Day or not, this should be followed regularly and diligently. Brush and floss every day to avoid the formation of plaque and tartar in your mouth, which otherwise would end up leaving your teeth discoloured, and your mouth, smelling foul.

Keep mints handy
There's no harm in being equipped for that kiss, even if it doesn't happen. Keep peppermint mouth fresheners (like chewing gums or candies) in your bag or pocket, but do not forget to spit them out in case you're leaning in for that kiss!

Kiss and tell tale

The first kiss is special. But there is no harm sharing it with the rest of the world, as our actors and singers do—how that first kiss led to something or nothing at all.

he first kiss that you stole, and sealed with a promise of being there forever, which probably didn’t materialize. This Valentine, some celebrities just pour it out.
