Mushfiqur Rahim trolls India for World T20 semi-final loss to West Indies; renders apology
Mushfiqur Rahim courted a major controversy on Thursday night when he decided to express his happiness over India's seven-wicket loss to West Indies in the ICC World T20 semi-final on a public platform.
The Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman took to his official account on microblogging site Twitter in order to express his jubilation over West Indies' massive win.
The post began to gather angry reactions from the Indian users on the site, following which Rahim decided to delete the post. However, many a user decided to save a screengrab of the tweet, as the furore over the post continued.
Meanwhile, following are some of the tweets from the Indian fans slamming Mushfiqur for his post:Small joys for @mushfiqur15 who is happy that the team he lost to has lost tonight #INDvsWI https://t.co/2iLVX5iiEp pic.twitter.com/YHF7OgflJk— FirstpostSports (@FirstpostSports) March 31, 2016

Rahim however, clarified his stance in a tweet later:Classy stuff from Bravo, unlike the school kid Rahim. https://t.co/oaVLn4xk4J— Srini Mama (@SriniMama16) April 1, 2016
West Indies broke a billion hearts after they chased the 193-run target set by India down with seven wickets and two balls to spare in the second World T20 semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.Sorry to all of you guys...as i am a big West Indies supporter but anyway sorry again for some harsh words...!!!!— Mushfiqur Rahim (@mushfiqur15) March 31, 2016
Lendl Simmons won the 'Man of the Match' award for his crucial unbeaten knock of 82 from 51 balls. Johnson Charles (52) rescued the West Indians from a couple of early scares after Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels were dismissed for single-digit scores. Andre Russell, too, chipped in with a 20-ball 43 that formed the match-winning 80-run stand with Simmons.
Earlier in the match, Ajinkya Rahane replaced Shikhar Dhawan as Rohit Sharma's opening partner as India got off to a decent start after being put to bat. However, it was star batsman Virat Kohli who once again turned out to be the highlight, remaining unbeaten on 89 off 47 balls to guide India to 192 for two.
Rahim was trolled by the Indian fans earlier in the tournament for his premature celebrations during Bangladesh's failed battle against the World T20 hosts in Bengaluru.
Rahim hit a couple of boundaries off Hardik Pandya in the last over to bring the equation down to two runs needed off three balls and had begun his celebrations. However, Bangladesh lost three wickets off the remaining balls of the over to collapse to a spectacular one-run defeat.
