Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) with S Bike mode launches in India

So, did you guess what #TapKickVroom is? If you didn't, here's the answer - the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is launching in India with a new S Bike feature.

It's a sort of Do Not Disturb feature that prevents unwanted distractions while riding a bike. The feature is enabled using the included NFC tag and will handle incoming calls.
Normally, the Galaxy J3 won't show any notifications so as not to disturb the rider. It will play a message, explaining that the phone's owner is riding a bike and can't answer. If it's an emergency, the caller can press 1 and the call will go through.

You still can't answer the call - Motion Lock makes sure you're completely stationary before the phone lets you answer.
Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) features a 5" Super AMOLED screen (720p), quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM, LTE and dual-SIM connectivity, plus a 2,600mAh battery. The phone has two cameras - 8MP/1080p on the back and 5MP on the front.

Samsung on Thursday announced a new budget smartphone, the Galaxy J3, priced at Rs 8,990 and available only on Snapdeal.

The phone has a special S-Bike mode to ensure safety of those using mobiles while on a motorcycle. Galaxy J3 is the first Samsung phone to come with such a feature, which company says was developed entirely by its R&D team in India, the second largest for the company after South Korea.
“We’ve noticed that a lot of our budget smartphone users are the ones who are also most likely to be using a bike. And very often when they are on a bike, they can’t tell whether the call they are getting is urgent. The S-bike mode is aimed at solving this problem,” said Asim Warsi, Senior Vice-President, Samsung Electronics.
The Sbike mode has a motion lock feature where the biker can't just stop the bike if he wants to take a call when the mode is on

Galaxy J3 comes with an NFC tag which can be attached to the bike, and then the user to has switch on the S-Bike Mode from the smartphone’s settings. Once the mode is activated via the tag as well, if the someone calls the user, they are greeted with a pre-recorded messaging saying the person is currently riding a motor-bike and can’t take the calls.

The caller has the option of pressing one in case of an urgent call and the biker will then have to stop to take the call. Samsung’s S-Bike Mode comes with a motion lock mode, where a user can’t take calls while the bike is moving.

Samsung’s budget Galaxy J series has done fairly well in India in the past thanks to features like Ultra-Data Saving Mode. The new J3, which is a dual-SIM 4G smartphone also supports this and comes with an 8mp rear camera, and has a 5-inch HD AMOLED display.
