WWE Roadblock Live Results And Reaction

10:33 PM EST That’ll do it for SportsMoney’s coverage of WWE Roadblock. Thanks for joining us, and be sure to come back for WWE NXT TakeOver and WrestleMania 32 next month.
10:30 PM EST WWE Roadblock goes off the air with Triple H still your WWE Champion. This was a pretty good show overall, but nothing major happened that should alter any future creative plans. Kudos to Triple H and Ambrose for being the highlights of the show.
10:28 PM EST Yes, it would have been awesome to see Triple H drop the belt to Ambrose here. But the plan is likely still in place for Reigns to beat him for the title at WrestleMania 32.
10:25 PM EST Ambrose lays out HHH with a top rope elbow drop on the outside, then mocks him with a DX-like crotch chop. Ambrose lays Triple H on the announce table, then climbs onto the barricade. He runs and jumps off the barricade, but Triple H moves. Ambrose crashes through the table! Ambrose barely beats the 10 count, but rolls right into a Pedigree from Triple H! One, two, three. That’s it. Triple H retains the WWE title in an excellent match.

10:23 PM EST Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on Triple H! He gets the three count! No, the referee says Ambrose’s feet were under the bottom rope. Wow. The crowd thought Ambrose won, and so did I. Triple H rolls up Ambrose from behind, gets his feet on the ropes and gets just two! Another phenomenal nearfall. Ambrose hits Triple H with a dive on the outside. “This is awesome!” says the crowd.
10:20 PM EST But Ambrose sends Triple H into the ring steps. Back in, Triple H goes for a Pedigree, Ambrose reverses and locks in the Figure Four! Triple H is trying to fight it, but Ambrose has it locked in. Triple H punches Ambrose several times to get out of the submission, but Ambroses takes him back down and locks in the Sharpshooter! Awesome stuff. Triple H tries not to tap! He gets to the ropes! The crowd booes.
10:17 PM EST Triple H goes for the Pedigree, Ambrose counters with a pinning combo and gets a close two. Triple H hits Ambrose with his classic knee to the face spot, Ambrose bounces off the rope and hits a clothesline! Two count. The pace is picking up now. Ambrose charges HHH, but HHH destroys Ambrose with a massive clothesline to send both guys to the mat. Triple H goes for the Pedigree! But Ambrose tosses him over his back to the floor on the outside. Ambrose goes for a dive between the ropes, but HHH blasts him with a huge right hand punch. Triple H clears off the announce table. Uh oh.
10:14 PM EST Triple H switches to an abdominal stretch, lets go and smashes Ambrose with more elbow drops to his back. Triple H hits Ambrose with a spinebuster, but only gets two. Ambrose is able to eventually hit his flying elbow drop off the top rope. Both men down now. Triple H and Ambrose get up and exchange punches, which aren’t Ambrose’s strong suit. Ambrose is kicking and chopping away, and he starts to get the advantage, hitting a running bulldog on Triple H for a two count. The crowd is waking up.
10:11 PM EST On the outside, Triple H goes for a desperate Pedigree! Ambrose wiggles out, but Triple H sends him back first into the ring steps and then slams him stomach first onto the barricade. Triple H is in firm control now. Ambrose beats a 10 count back into the ring, but gets slammed neck first into the middle rope. Triple H hits Ambrose with a front suplex and elbow drops onto Ambrose’s back, then locks in a crossface. The crowd is somewhat quiet as this is the slow part of the match.
10:08 PM EST Outside the ring now, Ambrose blasts Triple H with a clothesline and then rolls him back in before chopblocking Triple H’s knee multiple times. It appears as if Ambrose will attempt to take out Triple H’s knee as he slams it into the ring post over and over again.
10:06 PM EST Ambrose grabs HHH’s nose and hits him with a jab, followed by another armdrag and armbar. Ambrose grabs a front facelock, but Triple H backs him into the corner and hits Ambrose with shoulders to the gut. Nice right hand from Triple H, then another before the two exchange a few punches. “CM Punk!” chants quickly die out.
10:02 PM EST Dueling chants for both guys as the match starts and Triple H hits a shoulder tackle on Ambrose. Triple H is working over Ambrose’s arm until Ambrose reverses and takes HHH down with a headlock takeover. Ambrose shoots Triple H off the ropes and hits him with a big hip toss then an armdrag and an armbar. Ambrose goes and sits casually on the rop turnbuckle much to Triple H’s chagrin.
9:57 PM EST Triple H looks to be in fantastic shape tonight. Ambrose is mega over with the crowd like always. This could be a lot of fun. There’s more than an hour left in this show.
9:55 PM EST Main event time already. Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE title is up next. Any chance Ambrose shocks everyone and wins? I say no, but would love to be wrong.
9:52 PM EST After a failed Queen’s crossbow, Stardust hits a Disaster kick but again only gets two. Crowd is pretty dead for this one. Zayn catches Stardust for a suplex into the turnbuckle, followed by the Helluva Kick. One, two, three. Zayn wins a match that wasn’t as bad as the crowd’s (lack of) reaction to it suggests.
9:50 PM EST Stardust slaps Zayn with his glove, but Zayn hits multiple clotheslines and 10 punches in the corner. After a bodyslam on Stardust, Zayn goes for a top rop move but Stardust is up first, charges Zayn and gets sent out over the top rope. Zayn then hits a huge flipping dive onto Stardust! Cool spot. Zayn connects with a blue thunder bomb back in the ring, but only gets two.
9:47 PM EST Zayn leans on his feet after a suplex attempt by Stardust, but Stardust hits him with a Side Effect and gets four two counts. Zayn rolls him up for a quick two, but Stardust shuts it down again. Stardust puts Zayn on the top rope, goes for a superplex but Zayn blocks and sends him to the mat. Stardust jumps back up to the top and hits a superplex! Two count after that nice spot.
9:44 PM EST Stardust is working Zayn over now and gets a two count after a body slam, before grabbing a waistlock. Zayn gets up, but Stardust quickly knocks him down and hits him with a couple of strikes. Zayn fights up but runs into a huge knee from Stardust, who get a two count. Every time Zayn fights back, Stardust quickly shuts him down.
9:41 PM EST “Ole!” chants from the crowd as the match starts. Stardust and Zayn finally lock up and engage in some mat wrestling, which allows Zayn to show his tremendous in-ring skills. He grabs an armbar on Stardust, hits a few armdrags and grabs the hold again. Stadust is able to get control when he blasts Zayn with a big forearm as Zayn attempts a springboard move.
9:37 PM EST Here’s a nice surprise as Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring for a match. Let’s hope this makes up for the recent lackluster happenings on the show. He’ll be facing Stardust, who could actually be a really fun opponent for him.
9:34 PM EST Lesnar eats a big boot, but then hits Harper with his third German suplex and then his fourth. Lesnar hits another German suplex! That’s five so far as the crowd chants for another one, which it gets. Two more suplexes! The crowd loves it, too. Lesnar picks up Harper and hits him with an F5, then pins him. Just like that, Lesnar dismantles Harper, which does the Wyatts zero favors. Wyatt walks backwards up the ramp and heads backstage. Well, that was a monumental letdown.
9:31 PM EST Harper and Lesnar start it off as Lesnar suplexes him right away. Wyatt backs away from Lesnar down the ramp, distracting Lesnar and allowing Harper to take him down with a suicide dive. Harper gets control in the ring and hits him with a big boot. Two big superkicks sends Lesnar down to one knee, then a discus clothesline gets a one count. It looks like Wyatt, who is not standing on the ring apron, won’t be in this match after all.
9:29 PM EST Lesnar unsurprisingly gets a colossal reaction from the crowd, and it looks like he will indeed face both Wyatt and Harper, apparently so they can both lose to him, right?
9:27 PM EST Bray Wyatt, on his way to the ring, says Lesnar is a beast, monster and conqueror and talks about all the men that Lesnar has beat. But he says Lesnar has never conquered him and tonight won’t be any different. He says that he and Luke Harper will conquer Lesnar together, so is this a 2-on-1 handicap match? That makes Wyatt look so weak.
9:24 PM EST Let’s hope this next match isn’t just a squash.
9:22 PM EST That match really showcased what the Divas can do when given time. Bravo, ladies. Well done.
9:20 PM EST Natalya can’t lock in the Sharpshooter, Charlotte goes for Figure Four, Natalya rolls through and locks in the Sharpshooter! Charlotte crawls toward the ropes as Ric Flair tries to help. Flair gets up on the apron, which distracts Natalya and allows Charlotte to roll up Natalya (with her feet on the ropes) for the cheap victory.
9:18 PM EST Charlotte rolls out under the bottom rope, and back in, hits the Natural Selection! Wow. Really close two count, followed by two more close nearfalls. Charlotte hits a suplex, goes up top for a moonsault but Natalya grabs her from behind and hits a sitout powerbomb! One, two, no! Awesome nearfall that the crowd bought into. “This is awesome!” chants from the crowd.
9:15 PM EST Natalya sends Charlotte into the ring post, but Charlotte is quickly back up. The two women exchange chops and forearms, which leads to Natalya hitting a Russian legsweep and a discus clothesline. She goes for the sharpshooter again, but Charlotte rolls her up for two! Big boot by Charlotte. Charlotte goes for the Figure Eight, but Natalya fights it and reverses it! Both women are back up now as Charlotte slaps Natalya.
9:13 PM EST Charlotte with a leglock resthold on Natalya’s neck before she does her roll-through slams on Natalya, which gets a two count. Natalya sneaks in a rollup that gets just two, but Charlotte quickly knocks her back down. Natalya goes for a spinning discus clothesline, but Charlotte reverses into a sweet neckbreaker. Charlotte is working over Natalya’s legs, but Natalya rolls her up with a small package and slams Charlotte face first. Natalya misses a corner charge and Charlotte takes her out at the knees.
9:10 PM EST Natalya locks in a beautiful surfboard on Charlotte, drops her, then hits a basement dropkick and goes for another Sharpshooter, which Charlotte avoids. Natalya hits Charlotte with a baseball slide on the outside and rolls Charlotte back in, but Charlotte rolls out again and slams Natalya back first onto the floor on the outside. Charlotte is in full control now.
9:06 PM EST The match begins with a lockup and some great chain wrestling before Charlotte grabs a front waistlock using her legs. Natalya escapes, but Charlotte is able to lock in a single leg crab. Natalya reverses and goes for a Sharpshooter but Charlotte rolls out. Charlotte chops Natalya, who retaliates with a monstrous one.
9:03 PM EST A backstage segment “from earlier today” shows how we got to our next match, which is Charlotte vs. Natalya for the Divas title. This is a rematch of one of the best women’s matches in WWE history, from NXT Takeover back in 2014. It should be phenomenal if given time.
9:01 PM EST That could, and should, be the end of Enzo and Cass in NXT. They’re ready for the main roster, and that great match proves it.
8:59 PM EST On the outside, Carmella slaps Dawson, which allows The Revival to take out Cass on the outside. Amore goes for a big move off the top rope, tries to get a pin on Dawson, but he kicks out at two! Wow. That was an awesome nearfall. Amore and Dawson exchange punches in the corner, but Dash hits the blind tag, allowing The Revival to hit a double team move that keeps Amore down for the three count. Dash and Dawson are still your NXT tag team champs.
8:56 PM EST The announcers are pushing that there’s “nothing pretty” about The Revival, which makes the champs sound really, really boring. Amore goes for a hot tag, but Dawson hits him with a running shoulder block to prevent it. Amore is hung upside down in the corner, so Dawson runs at him, misses and both guys get the hot tag! Cass is on fire with a slam and a running elbow drop followed by a big splash on Dash. Distraction from Dawson allows Dash to roll him up, but Cass gets out, hits a big boot on Dawson on the outside and then a Winds of change on Dash. Amore goes up top, but Dawson crotches him!
8:53 PM EST Cass picks up Amore in the ring and tosses him to the outside on top of Dash and Dawson! Fun spot. Back in, Dawson gets a blind tag on Dash that allows Dash to send Amore shoulder first into the ring post. The Revival has control for the first time. Dawson has Amore in a top wristlock/armbar move as the pace starts to slow down.
8:50 PM EST Enzo Amore and Dash are in first. Some shenanigans from The Revival give the champs the early advantage, but Amore is able to rebound before tagging in Big Cass. Cass hits some big chops and right hands on Dash followed by a nice sidewalk slam that gets just one. Cass with an armbar on Dash, followed by a huge backbody drop. Amore is in now and he gets launched by Cass into Dawson, followed by a big press that sends both champs to the outside of the ring.
8:47 PM EST Carmella, Cass and Amore cut a solid promo hitting their typical catchphrases as the crowd unsurprisingly chants along. The Revival’s music hits, and we’re almost set for what could be a heck of a match coming up.
8:44 PM EST A typically well done video package showcases the NXT tag team title feud between Dash and Dawson, a.k.a. The Revival, and the team of Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Up next, those two teams face off for the NXT tag titles. Huge reaction for Cass and Amore’s entrance. They should be on the main roster soon.
8:42 PM EST Can you sense the sarcasm here?
8:40 PM EST Jericho rolls Swagger up, goes for Walls of Jericho, Swagger reverses and locks in the Patriot Lock but Jericho wiggles out and hits an enziguiri. Jericho goes for a Codebreaker, Swagger catches him, slams him down and gets two. Swagger locks in the Patriot Lock again! Jericho grabs the ref’s pant leg to allow him to break the hold. Swagger goes after Jericho but hits the turnbuckle, allowing Jericho to lock in the Walls of Jericho for the win. Solid finish to a decent match.
8:38 PM EST Jericho grabs another resthold as Swagger fights up again. Swagger with a back elbow and some punches. Jericho goes for a bulldog but Swagger reverses and sends him into the turnbuckle. Swagger is in control now after multiple clotheslines. He goes for the Swagger Bomb, but Y2J gets his knees up, hits a running bulldog and then misses a lionsault. Swagger connects with the Swagger Bomb! Only a two count.
8:36 PM EST “AJ Styles!” chants from the crowd as Jericho throws Swagger into the barricade outside the ring. Back in the ring now, Jericho gets a two count after a kick and then grabs a chin lock. Swagger fights up but Jericho stops his momentum with a dropkick that gets another two count.
8:34 PM EST Jericho slaps Swagger as the match starts, then rolls out of the ring as Swagger gets the best of him. Swagger chases Y2J around the ring, and back inside, Swagger knocks him down with a back elbow before hitting 10 punches in the corner. Jericho with a cheap shot that allows him to regain control as the crowd actually chants “Y2J!”
8:31 PM EST He continues to rip the crowd and says he is “the only thing” in WWE. “Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?” Jack Swagger’s music hits, so it looks like he’s Jericho’s opponent.
8:29 PM EST Jericho is in full heel mode as he tells Toronto to shut their mouths. He complains that the fans chanted for Styles instead of him, which leads to…an “AJ Styles” chant. Jericho tells them to go to hell and rips on them for being Canadians. He says he is the greatest icon in the history of Canada, but says he’s ashamed to be Canadian which is why he moved from there. He says Canada stinks. He’s so fantastic as a heel.
8:26 PM EST A recap of recent events between AJ Styles and Chris Jericho. Then, Y2J’s music hits, and he’s apparently competing in a match. By the way, here’s that Kofi botch from the first match.
8:23 PM EST Backstage promo with Paul Heyman, who says that Brock Lesnar’s revenge on Bray Wyatt will happen tonight. He says Wyatt is going down, down, down, down! F5′d. Conquered. “At the hands of the Beast, the conqueror, Brock Lesnar.”
8:21 PM EST Very good showing from both teams, but it’s a little odd to see New Day still acting somewhat like heels when the crowd cheers for them.
8:19 PM EST Kofi, back in, hits a nice crossbody off the top for a two count on Sheamus. Kofi goes for Trouble in Paradise but gets caught and puts Kofi in the cloverleaf. Kofi tries not to tap! Kofi holds on for a while and counters, nearly rolling up Sheamus! He then hits an SOS and gets the tag to Big E. Big E goes for the Big Ending, but Sheamus pushes Big E into Kingston, and it looks like a bad botch as Kofi tries to leapfrog Sheamus but lands right on top of him. Barrett has Big E pinned after a kick, but Woods interferes and Kofi takes out Sheamus on the outside. Back in the ring, Big E hits Barrett with the Big Ending! 1-2-3. This one is over. The New Day retains in a fun match.
8:16 PM EST Barrett in with Kofi, Kofi goes for an up and over, Barrett catches him and hits him with a big kick. Sheamus in now, and he goes for another move off the top rope but Kofi hits him with a big drop kick! Both guys down now. Kofi gets the hot tag to Big E, who is in with Barrett and plants him with multiple belly to belly suplexes and a monstrous splash. Distraction from Sheamus allows Barrett to hit Big E with a snap suplex.
8:13 PM EST Kingston gets the tag to Big E (Woods is not in the match) and stomps away on Barrett in the corner before continuing to tag Kingston in and out as both New Day members continue to stomp on Barrett. After a brief distraction from Sheamus, Barrett hits Kingston with Winds of Change to take control, then tags in Sheamus. Barrett back in as he hits big knees on Kingston on the ropes, then brings Sheamus back in. Sheamus hits a top rope shoulder tackle and gets two.
8:10 PM EST We probably shouldn’t expect a title change here. Sheamus and Kingston start the bout and engage in some mat wrestling before Kingston plays to the crowd. Yeah, New Day is definitely turning full-fledged babyface. Barrett in now as the League hits Kingston with double back elbows.
8:07 PM EST New Day gets a big babyface reaction. Xavier Woods says the crowd can see the power of positivity, Francesca and the tag team champs. Kofi Kingston mentions “Booty Os” cereal and they reveal an actual box of the cereal. Fantastic.  The New Day rips on each member of the League of Nations and talks some more about Booty Os until they break out in a “New Day Rocks” chant. Out come Barrett and Sheamus to a mild reaction.
8:04 PM EST WWE Roadblock opens with…The New Day! They’ll defend the WWE Tag Team TISI +% titles against King Barrett and Sheamus of The League of Nations. But first, it’s promo time.
6:45 PM EST WWE Roadblock will air exclusively on the WWE Network Saturday night and takes place inside the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is headlined by Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
