Overview

The ICC T20 World Cup is reaching the closing stages with the competition now down to just four teams. England take on New Zealand in the first semi-final, while India take on West Indies in the second.

The Black Caps are the form team of the tournament having won all four of their group stage games – the only team to do so – and will be hoping to make their second ICC event final to follow up their appearance in the summit clash against Australia in the 50-over format of the ICC World Cup in 2015, which they lost to their arch rivals.

Kane Williamson's team have been average at best with the bat, except for their game against Pakistan, but their bowling has been one of the best in the tournament. They have shown a good mix of pace and spin and have excelled in the sub-continent. They managed to dismiss Asian nations – known for their ability to play spin – India and Bangladesh for 79 and 70 runs, respectively. England will have a challenge at hand, especially on the difficult Feroz Shah Kotal wicket.

The Three Lions, on the other hand, have built up momentum as the tournament progressed and after a poor start – following their encounter with the Gayle force – against West Indies, they went on to record three straight wins, with their victory over South Africa chasing down a mammoth 229 being the most impressive.

Eoin Morgan's charges will be less under pressure compared to the Kiwis, who are expected to make the final owing to their form. Moreover, England have won the ICC T20 World Cup giving them more experience in a high pressure situation.
