Filmfare Awards 2016
Red carpet : Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Harshaali Malhotra arrive in style!
The 61st Britannia Filmfare Award, popularly known as the Filmfare Awards 2016, is being telecast tonight (February 7, 2016) on Sony Entertainment Television 7 pm IST onwards. The Filmfare Awards 2016 winners this year include Ranveer Singh for Best Actor (Male) for his historical movie Bajirao Mastani, and Deepika Padukone for Best Actor (Female) for her amazing act in Piku. The Best Film was won by Bajirao Mastani itself, and the film’s director Sanjay Leela Bhansali took home the Best Director award.
The Filmfare Awards 2016 were held in Mumbai on January 15. It was one of those rare occasions like old times when the general public was allowed inside at the awards show, provided they had bought a ticket or had a pass on them. Nevertheless, most of us have not seen the show live, and so if you’re not in front of the television screen right now, we share with you the full red carpet video from the 61st Britannia Filmfare Award.
Watch as Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone arrive in style and mesmerise on the red carpet itself, and what a dashing pair they make. The legendary Amitabh Bachchan arrives with wife Jaya Bachchan and daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda later, followed by Anil Kapoor and a bevy of Bollywood beauties. Hot stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Leone soon arrive for the awards show.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan cutie pie Harshaali Malhotra is also seen on the red carpet, shy and pretty in her first appearance on the Filmfare Awards red carpet. The child star steals the show from her older counterparts!
Quite a disappointment, this one!
Well, we’ve already given you a hack of how to get a trophy in an award show. Turns out the Filmfare show really did reflect a lot of what our article about the dummies guide to getting a trophy in award’s show, said. Remember those days when we used to eagerly wait for the award shows, especially Filmfare and IIFA, to see who bagged the coveted trophy. As the years have passed by, it has all turned into a sham and there is simply no spark left when a celebrity holds the desired trophy. Filmfare has literally failed to amuse us and entertain us the way it used to do before. Here are five points of disappointment that I witnessed as I watched this award show!Shah Rukh Khan’s vain attempts to humour us
Even though SRK paired up with TV’s funny guy Kapil Sharma, they still couldn’t manage to bring a smile on our faces. The jokes were clearly not innovative, the digs weren’t witty and the audience too wasn’t very upbeat to participate in good humour. Alia Bhatt too tried too hard with her act and so did Karan Johar. Sadly, it all seemed so bloody scripted that the whole fun was lost. The performances were meh
Oh do not get me started on Jacqueline Fernandez and Alia Bhatt’s performance for it was so blah! The dance sequence was horribly timed and the actors weren’t putting any effort whatsoever to show that they worked hard for it. Oh and what was the purpose of making Jacqueline dance out the nominations list? It was terrible and did not appeal to me one bit.The format of the awards was SO repetitive
Has there ever been one Filmfare where the hosts didn’t take a dig at celebs attending or that there wasn’t one angry celeb (who actually was just messing with all)? I think the only thing different in the format of Filmfare this year was that Shah Rukh Khan didn’t receive an award! Rest everything? Similar pattern. First the hosts take a dig at each other, then they take a dig at the audience while a few performances take place and then there’s always this one celeb who threatens to walk out but is actually just pulling our leg. Oh and finally, the last performer’s slot is always dedicated to Salman because they know that Bhai fans will wait for it till the end!The editing was atrocious
If the format of the awards wasn’t entertaining enough, the editing f**ked it up further more! I’m quite sure that out of the total awesomeness that might have happened at the actual awards, we were treated with some really lame clips put together.Unnecessary expressions looped at unnecessary places
Well, certainly it’s not possible to manage the entire show without a few takes and I’m quite sure that a lot of takes happened while filming the awards night. But looks like the editor misplaced a lot of footage. That’s why he had to make peace with the same faces again and again for every occasion. I remember this vividly that Alia, Deepika and Ranveer’s same expressions were repeated on several occasions to make the show look interesting. Too bad it worked terribly!Overall, I lost interest within the first 30 minutes but I made peace with myself and lasted for the entire show. Thank you team Filmfare for making my Sunday night super boring. But then again, just as Alia said in the show, if only it was cooler with something new to give, that would’ve done the trick.
