Xiaomi Redmi 3 launched with Snapdragon 616, 4100 mAh battery, metal body
Xiaomi Redmi 3 Specification
Xiaomi on Monday launched its much-awaited Redmi 3 phone. For a budget phone, the Redmi 3 looks well equipped and particularly appealing, with its metal body and powerful hardware. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor and has 2GB RAM. The Snapdragon 616 has 8 cores and a speed of up to 1.7GHz. The phone has a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution. Also inside its sleek body is 16GB storage and a particularly big 4100 mAh battery.
Considering comparatively smaller battery size -- it is a phone with 5-inch screen -- the phone's big battery seems to be a highlight feature of it. Also considering the screen size of 5-inches and resolution of 720p, you can expect this battery to last long. Really long.
The Redmi 3 supports micro SD cards. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera, a bump compared to the Redmi 2 that had a 8-megapixel camera. The front camera in the Redmi 3 will shoot 5-megapixel images.
The phone, as we noted earlier, uses a metal shell, which is unique and very noteworthy for a phone in this price range. It has a thickness of 8.5mm -- which is fairly thin -- and weight of 144 grams.
Xiaomi Redmi 3 Features
While the phone looks impressive and a big upgrade over the Redmi 2, it seems that it may also have a slightly higher launch price, especially in India. In China, the Redmi 3 has been priced around $106. So in India, the price could be between Rs.7,000 to Rs.8,000. That would be marginally higher than the price of Redmi 2, which was launched at Rs.6,999.For now, there is no information on when Xiaomi would bring Redmi 3 to India. But when it comes, expect it to create a lot of buzz in the budget smartphone market. Earlier, in a way the first Redmi phone, redefined the budget market. The Redmi 3 has the potential to do so again.
