JEE Main 2016 Result

The result of JEE Main 2016 will be released in two Parts. The Part-1 will consist of scores, which will be released on 27 April 2016. Whereas, the Part-2 will disclose All India Rank (AIR) of the candidates. The due date of for the release of the AIR is 30 June 2016.

Once the scores are officially disclosed, candidates will not be able to challenge or change it. Also, candidates will have to download the scores because no JEE Main 2016 score/rank card will not be dispatched to them. The scores of the candidates will be calculated as per the determined marking mechanism and will be announced sectional and overall wise. For calculating the rank, the Board will use the normalized procedure. The seat will only be allocated on the basis of the merit achieved by the candidate.

JEE Main 2016 Normalization Procedure

The purpose of normalizing the marks is to provide a fair chance to all the candidates. In it, the class XII percentile is calculated. Mentioning to clarify, the percentage is that which is calculated out of 100. Whereas, the percentile is calculated to state how many candidates have scored below a candidate, in the reference.

It states how many candidates have scored less than the best scorer. It is a benchmark as per which the marks of other candidates are calculated. It is calculated by the formula below
100 * No. of candidates in the ‘group’ with aggregate marks less than the best scorer
_____________________________________________________________________
Total number of the candidates in the ’group’

JEE Main 2016 Counselling

Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) used to conduct the counseling for the exam. However, last year, JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) was formed to allocate the seats. The purpose of JoSAA was to provide a common platform to JEE Main 2016 and JEE Advanced 2016 candidates for the counseling. It was an amalgamation between CSAB and Joint Admission Board (JAB).
Though there were certain loopholes in the new counselling process yet it proved out to be a very comfortable and just mechanism for seat allocation. So, it is expected that even this year the common counselling procedure will be followed for JEE Main 2016 and JEE Advanced 2016 admissions. Confirmed information about it will be released later on. However, till then, candidates may check the details below.
  • The counselling was held in online mod
  • There were 4 rounds of seat allotment
  • The counselling for IITs and ISM ended in first three rounds.
  • Almost 3000 seats were left, in NITs + system, after the 4th Round of counselling. To fill these seats a special counselling was held by CSAB.

JEE Main 2016 Participating Institutes

The exact number of institutes which accepts JEE Main 2016 score is impossible to calculate. However, last year, the counselling of JEE Main was held for 68 Institutions, which included 32 NITs, 18 IITs and 18 GFTIs. The number and list of NITs + System institutes this year, in JEE Main 2016, will be announced soon and we will update the article as per it.

Apart from this, various states are also accepting JEE Main 2016 score to fill all the seats. Among this list of the participating states, the latest add-ons are Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland and Odisha. On the other hand, Maharashtra has drawn back from the exam and will be conducting its own state level entrance examination for the admissions.

JEE Main 2016 – Step Ahead

The Main paper is held for the admission into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. However, the Advanced paper is held for the admission into IITs and ISM-Dhanbad. Only top 2 lakh entrants of JEE Main 2016 are declared eligible to write JEE Advanced, provided they fulfill the required eligibility criteria as well. The JEE Advanced 2016 is due on 22 May 2016.

CBSE UDAAN

Concerned by the low enrollment ratio of girls, in prestigious engineering colleges, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a very fruitful project, UDAAN. It is an effort, to encourage higher education among girls so to empower them. The idea behind is to bridge the gap between the school education and preparation for engineering entrance examination like JEE Main 2016. To achieve it, free engineering entrance exam coaching for female students of class XI and XII, has been facilitated by the Board.

The scheme is open only for the female students, studying in any recognized Board. Under it, 1000 girls who will have an aggregate of 80% in PCM (along with 70% aggregate in all the subjects), will be given free coaching to crack IIT-JEE Advanced. Awarded girls will have full access to the online portal, in which study material related to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, will be uploaded. Tutorial and lectures will be organized and periodic counseling, to motivate girls and parents, will also be arranged. For further assistance, reward points will be given. These will be redeemable against IITs and NITs fee and will be awarded to high scorers to help them financially.
